The Junior Accountant is an entry-level position within the accounting department of a credit union. As a Junior Accountant, you will assist in various financial tasks and contribute to maintaining accurate financial records. You will work under the guidance of senior accountants or the Accounting Manager to support the credit union's financial operations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.


1. Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.

2. Records financial transactions accurately and promptly in our accounting system.

3. Reconcile bank statements and other financial documents to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.

4. Process and post transactions related to member deposits, withdrawals, loans, and other financial activities.

5. Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

6. Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, payment recording, and collections.

7. Help maintain proper documentation of financial records, ensuring they are organized and easily accessible.

8. Assist in the analysis of financial data and generation of reports to support decision-making and financial planning.

9. Collaborate with other departments and staff to gather necessary financial information and resolve any accounting-related queries.

11. Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.

12. Assist with special projects or other duties as assigned by management.


1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.

2. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial concepts.

3. Familiarity with financial software and accounting systems (experience with credit union-specific systems is a plus).

4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office productivity tools.

5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in working with numbers and financial data.

6. Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

9. Strong time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.

10. Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential financial information.

11. Familiarity with credit union operations and regulations is a plus.
